Meningitis B

Understandably, we have had a lot of queries about the Meningitis outbreak in Kent, and in particular, patients requesting to have the Meningitis B vaccination.

In Wales the Men B vaccine is routinely offered to babies at 8 weeks of age, 12 weeks of age and 12-13 months of age (since 2015). At this moment in time there is no vaccination process for children or adults outside of these age groups. Men B for children over the age of 2 years and/or adults can be sourced privately, unless the person is in an at risk group and we would then be guided by the patient’s consultant.

Macmillan and Bupa are working in partnership to provide free counselling and emotional support to people living with cancer (PLWC) who are struggling to cope emotionally.
The new partnership offers people with high levels of emotional need (that are a result of their cancer experience or strongly linked to it) up to six sessions of free one-on-one counselling over the phone or by video call from a qualified Bupa counsellor.
