Meningitis B

Understandably, we have had a lot of queries about the Meningitis outbreak in Kent, and in particular, patients requesting to have the Meningitis B vaccination.

In Wales the Men B vaccine is routinely offered to babies at 8 weeks of age, 12 weeks of age and 12-13 months of age (since 2015). At this moment in time there is no vaccination process for children or adults outside of these age groups. Men B for children over the age of 2 years and/or adults can be sourced privately, unless the person is in an at risk group and we would then be guided by the patient’s consultant.

We have 4th year Medical Students from Liverpool University, pharmacists training for independent prescribing and occasional nursing students.

Please tell us by completing our contact the practice form if you prefer not to have a student in your consultation, nobody will be offended, but they can offer valuable insights and truly do appreciate your co-operation in their learning process.
