We offer a range of appointments to help as many patients as we can while respecting infection control safety measures. Most of our doctors and advanced nurse practitioners (ANP) appointments are over the phone first and then according to your medical needs you may receive a phone advice, video consultation, a face to face assessment, home visit or alternative assessment will be arranged by the clinician.
After you request an appointment please be prepared for the call from a doctor/ANP/nurse anytime between 8:30am and 6:30pm. Please ensure we have your correct contact details and be ready to answer questions regarding your symptoms.
Urgent appointments
To request an urgent appointment for today during opening times:
- phone us on 01244 813340 from 8am
Patients are asked to take into consideration that there are only a certain number of appointments available each day depending on the clinical staff on duty. We will always endeavour to offer a same day consultation for patients under the age of 16 with acute illness or those that have been triaged as urgent.
Routine appointments
Patients will still have the facility to pre-book a future dated appointment based on availability and the reason for the appointment. Due to high demand and our use of these appointments for necessary reviews, they are unfortunately usually booked several weeks ahead.
Saving up problems and coming with a list does not help to address your needs optimally. Please feel free to come as many times as you need. Exceptionally, we will try to accommodate your request for a double appointment if needed. Please note, you must pre-book an appointment if you are requested to see a practice nurse, or health care assistant.
Pre-booked appointments are also required for all medicals i.e. insurance, occupational, HGV and taxi medicals and can be arranged with an available GP. To request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:
- phone us on 01244 813340
- use the NHS Wales App
Patient signposting
Please help us to help you, think before you request and appointment, will my symptoms go away if left for a few days? Would a local pharmacist, optician, chiropodist or other healthcare service be a more appropriate service?
Local pharmacies run a service called common ailments scheme. They can provide advice for number of minor ailments such as hayfever, indigestion, threadworm etc. Please see the pharmacy opening times list (PDF) for details of local pharmacies and when they are open. Where appropriate for these conditions they can provide you with medication without a need of a prescription from a GP. This service is free of charge.
When requesting appointments our reception staff will ask you some questions in order to establish who is the best health professional to help you and the level of urgency.
Our receptionists are trained to find the most appropriate service and clinician to help you with your request and they may signpost you to a local pharmacy, an optician, a dentist, a hospital A&E or a minor injuries unit.
Patient confidentiality is very important to us so should you wish to speak to one of the reception staff in private rather than at the reception desk or in the waiting que, please make them aware.
In some instances where an appointment is requested to deal with an administration or medication query this can be dealt with by our administration staff without the need to make an appointment.
Preference of a practitioner
You may request a pre-bookable appointment with a GP or ANP of your choice. Due to high demand, they are unfortunately usually booked several weeks ahead. We cannot guarantee that you request can be met. If you request to be seen the same day, we cannot offer you to be seen by a clinician of your choice.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
If you are unable to attend or no longer require an appointment, please let us know so we can offer the appointment to someone else.
To cancel your appointment:
- use the NHS Wales App
- phone us on 01244 813340 during opening times
If you need help when we are closed
The practice is covered by the North Wales GP out of hours service which is commissioned by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and operates from 6:30pm to 8am each weekday night, bank holidays and at weekends.
This service is designed to help patients who cannot wait until normal surgery opening hours. Therefore we ask that you only call ‘out of hours’ when this is really necessary, i.e. if symptoms are worrying and if you think harm would result in waiting until the surgery is open.
Please note, the out of hours clinicians do not have the full access to your GP notes and therefore they simply cannot answer questions about long term management plans, hospital investigations or referrals.
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 Wales or call 111.
The NHS 111 Wales symptom checker is for people aged 12 and over. Call 111 if you need help for anyone under 12.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond

Home visits
Home visit are reserved for patients who are too ill to attend surgery, however if you have symptoms that suggest a heart attack, stroke, severe shortage of breath or bleeding dial 999 for emergency ambulance.
We follow the NHS Wales guidelines which suggest that a GP visit is recommended to terminally ill and bed-bound patients. When considering a request for home visit, please, remember that several people can be seen at the surgery in the time that it takes to make a home visit.
Please phone the surgery on 01244 813340 before 10:30am if you think that you may require a home visit.
Be ready to give the receptionist your name, address, phone number, age and brief outline of the problem. They may ask the doctor to confirm that it is necessary to see you at home.
