Meningitis B

Understandably, we have had a lot of queries about the Meningitis outbreak in Kent, and in particular, patients requesting to have the Meningitis B vaccination.

In Wales the Men B vaccine is routinely offered to babies at 8 weeks of age, 12 weeks of age and 12-13 months of age (since 2015). At this moment in time there is no vaccination process for children or adults outside of these age groups. Men B for children over the age of 2 years and/or adults can be sourced privately, unless the person is in an at risk group and we would then be guided by the patient’s consultant.

  • Cruse Bereavement

Cruse is no longer able to accept Adult referrals From your GP and we would ask that you contact them directly. They can go through a brief assessment and the referral process. Currently they have a waiting time of around 3 to 4 months for 1 to 1 support however, they do their best to allocate referrals in a timely manner.
